“If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if He is thirsty, give him water to drink.” Proverbs 25:21
Proverbs words of wisdom challenge us as Christians. Our humanly love is one that is conditional and based on whether we ‘like’ someone or not; whether they are a friend or enemy. God’s love has no limits. God challenges us to consider the ‘unimaginable’.
God wants us to live this verse out loud, to desire a deeper and more intimate relationship with Christ and to trust in God as we never have before.
Jesus Christ is our example, the “…visible image of the invisible God.” Colossians 1:15
Jesus allows us to see what is unimaginable.
Jesus is the perfect picture of how to be ourselves through Christ in all activities of life.
He told us in Matthew 5:39-42, “If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.”
This is much easier said than done!
So next time you are faced with loving the ‘unlovable’ remember how Christ loved! Trust God as you strive to love the unimaginable, regardless of the circumstances. Trust in God’s strength, wisdom and direction as you take this leap of faith. Here is a reminder to live with faith, as Jesus prayed, that God’s “will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:44-46, “But I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in Heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?
